IIT Patna: 26 December 2024 :: Unity is the true essence of our culture, and it embodies the principle of unity in diversity. India’s culture is not confined to uniformity; it thrives in the richness of our diverse yet united fabric. Our identity is not shaped by a single religion, region, or language, but by the values of humanity, equality, and compassion. It is time we move beyond the colonial mindset, embracing our identity and stepping boldly into a new direction. Imitation only changes appearance, while identity is realized when we reconnect with our roots. These insightful thoughts were shared by Vijay Kumar Sinha, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, during the grand inauguration of the Inter IIT Cultural Meet 7.0 at IIT Patna.

The grand inaugural ceremony was graced by Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Kumar Sinha, IIT Patna Director Professor T.N. Singh, Dean of Academics Professor A.K. Thakur, Associate Dean (Student Affairs) Dr. P.K. Tiwari, Udit Satija, Ankit Kumar, and several other esteemed dignitaries. The ceremony commenced with symbolic lamp-lighting by all the guests, marking the beginning of this grand cultural festival.

It is noteworthy that the 7th Inter IIT Cultural Meet is witnessing the participation of nearly 3850 students from 23 IITs across the country, showcasing their talents in art, music, dance, and other cultural activities. During the event, the guests also unveiled the trophy. All dignitaries were presented with mementos and shawls as a token of appreciation.

In his welcome address, IIT Patna Director Professor T.N. Singh expressed, “It is an immense honor for us that IIT Patna is hosting such a grand cultural event. This is a matter of great pride.” He further emphasized that culture is the foundation that helps differentiate between good and bad, and that this event will play a significant role in the holistic development of students.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, IIT Patna Registrar Shri Sanjay Kumar extended his gratitude to all attendees. The first day of this four-day cultural extravaganza featured a variety of events, including the Science Biz Tech Quiz, Hindi Slam Poetry, English Slam Poetry, English Creative Writing, Photoshop Battle, Acting, and Pair on Stage competitions.
