IIT Patna: 19 July 2024 :: The prestigious four -day International Conference on Advances in Thermal Spray (ICOAT-2024) began at IIT Patna on 18th July 2024, underscoring its commitment to fostering innovation and advancing research in coating technologies across India. The event commenced with a ceremonial inauguration attended by esteemed dignitaries including Prof. T. N. Singh, Director of IIT Patna; Dr. Ramanuj Narayan, Director of CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar; Dr. Goutam Sutradhar, Director of NIT Jamshedpur; Dr. Naresh Chanda Murmu, Director of CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur; and Dr. Anup Kumar Keshri, Principal Coordinator of the Center of Excellence (CoE) at IIT Patna.
The inauguration ceremony, marked by the traditional lamp lighting and a warm floral welcome of guests, emphasized the collaborative spirit driving this landmark event.
Dr. T. N. Singh, Director of IIT Patna, highlighted the significance of the newly established Center of Excellence in advancing cutting-edge coating technologies. “This initiative underscores our commitment to developing pioneering solutions that will revolutionize industries such as manufacturing, aerospace, and automotive,” remarked Dr. Singh.
Dr. Anup Kumar Keshri, Convener of the CoE, , expressing enthusiasm for the collaborative effort aimed at addressing critical challenges in wear and corrosion. “The Center of Excellence serves as a dynamic hub for knowledge exchange and innovation,”Dr. Keshri emphasized. “By bringing together top experts and leveraging strategic partnerships, we aim to propel India’s position in the global market, driving sustainable solutions that enhance material durability and performance.”
The Center of Excellence (CoE) in Wear and Corrosion Resistance Coatings at IIT Patna has been established with crucial support from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), as well as partnerships with Applied Materials Pvt. Ltd., Tata Steel Ltd., and Associated Plasmatron Pvt. Ltd. These collaborations are pivotal in advancing research and innovation in coating technologies at IIT Patna.
The ICOAT-2024 conference brings together leading researchers, academicians, and industry experts from renowned institutions worldwide to explore the latest advancements and trends in thermal spray technologies. Participants from prestigious IITs, NITs, and premier academic institutions alongside industry representatives are actively engaged in shaping the future of coating technologies.
