One week training on “Use of Advanced Analytical Instruments for Energy & Coating Applications” at IIT Patna

IIT Patna, July 17, 2023:: Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering with the support of Department of Chemistry of Indian Institute of Technology Patna are organizing a one-week training program under the aegis of Department of Science and Technology (DST)- sponsored “Synergistic Training program Utilizing the Scientific Technological Infrastructure” (STUTI), a programme of Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad from July 15th -21st ,2023, with the theme “Use of Advanced Analytical Instruments for Energy and Coating Applications”.

The objective of this program is to provide knowledge for researchers actively engaged in research or consultancy work. The program will feature classroom instruction to provide an overview of analytical instruments used in energy and coatings applications, followed by laboratory demonstrations of each instrument, as well as hands-on training by experts from academia and industry.

The training program was inaugurated by Hon’ble Director Professor T N Singh. In his inaugural address, Professor T N Singh shared his experience on usage and impact of high – end analytical instruments in the research community throughout the decades. Through these training programs, DST- STUTI helps researchers to develop skills required for industry or academia.

Dr. Sushant Kumar, Program Coordinator from the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, IIT Patna, welcomed Chief guest (Prof. T. N. Singh), guest of honours (Prof. R. K. Gangwar, and Prof. Ejaz Ahmad, ISM Dhanbad), and participants from across India. He emphasized that with this training program, students would get an understanding of sophisticated analytical instruments and their use. Professor R. K Gangwar and Prof. Ejaz Ahmad highlighted the importance of enhancing skills and utilizing them to contribute to the progress of the nation.

Dr. Jose V Parambil, Head, Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Patna thanked the organizing committee and suggested to frequently organize more similar events. Dr. Anup Kumar Keshri, Program Co-coordinator, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Associate Dean (R&D), IIT Patna, shared in brief about the ongoing projects at IIT Patna. He conveyed that with such events, IIT Patna should train more students and provide adequate training to have their own start -ups and hence, contribute to the growth of our country.
