Patna: 22 February 2023 :: A Three Day Online Continuous Education Program (CEP) is being organized at IIT Patna during February 17th -February 19th 2023. This program titled “Resource Optimization in Process Industries” is being organized jointly by the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering and the Department of Mathematics, IIT Patna. The program is intended to focus on basics of convex optimization along with gradient and evolutionary algorithms used for modeling and solutions of problems arising in real life as well as industries. Moreover, this online CEP focuses to provide a forum for reviewing and discussing all aspects of resource optimization in process industries including the domains of process system engineering and process integration. The program includes, but is not limited to the following topics:
The main aim of the course is to bridge the gap between theoretical and practical aspects of Optimization Theory and Algorithms. Around 50 participants all across India have registered for this course and enthusiastically participating through online mode.
On first day the lecture started with the talks by the course coordinators Dr. B. B. Upadhyay and Dr. Nitin Dutt Chaturvedi. The day concluded with the lecture of renowned academician Prof. Santanu Bandyopadhyay from IIT Bombay. Prof. Bandyopadhyay has discussed various methodologies and algorithms for energy/water conservation and sustainable development. In upcoming days eminent scholars like Prof. S.K. Neogy, (Head, ISI Delhi Centre), Prof Joydeep Dutta (IIT Kanpur) and Prof A. K. Agrawal, (IIT BHU) will share their knowledge and thought with the participants. The program started with the inaugural ceremony addressed by Prof. Asif Ekbal (A Dean Resource), Prof. Nutan K. Tomar (Head, Department of Mathematics) and Prof. Sushant Kumar (Head, CBE Department).
