Patna: 18 January 2023 :: Last year, on September 09, 2022, President Draupadi Murmu launched the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. More than 25 percent of the total TB patients of the world are in India. Most of the people suffering from TB disease come from the poor section of the society. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given a call to eliminate TB from India by 2025.
Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan is envisaged to support all community stakeholders in TB treatment and accelerate the country’s progress towards TB treatment. Participating in this Abhiyaan of Honorable Prime Minister, today, on 18 January 2022, IIT Patna adopted 6 TB patients of Bihta block and provided them with nutritional kits. Nutritious food will be provided to these patients for the next six months by IIT Patna. Along with this, the team of IIT Patna assured to provide moral support to TB patients.
The present team inquired about the treatment of the patients and explained to them that proper nutrition is also needed along with the treatment. That’s why tuberculosis patients should pay special attention to their diet. Along with this, it was told that TB patients should especially take vitamins A, B, C, D, E in their diet. Apart from this, the patient should also take plenty of protein in the food and medicines should be taken regularly and on time. The program was organized at Primary Health Center Bihta.
On this occasion, Indian Institute of Technology Patna Professor Incharge Medical Dr. Sourav Kumar Pandey, Training and Placement Officer, Mr. Kripa Shankar Singh, Dr. Shobhakant Pandey, Medical Officer, IIT Patna, Ravi Shankar, Naveen Kumar and Medical Officer Incharge of Primary Health Center Dr. Krishna Kant and Vidhan were present.
On this occasion, in-charge of Primary Health Center Bihta, Dr. Krishna Kant said that to get rid of infectious disease like TB, it is necessary to identify the patient first and give him proper treatment. IIT Patna Professor-in Charge, Medical Dr. Saurabh Kumar Pandey said that this initiative of IIT Patna reflects the vision of our Director Professor T. N. Singh and in future also IIT Patna will play its strong participation in such initiatives related to social concern.
