Patna : 12 November 2022 :: International Chemical Engineering Conference 2022 organized by the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Patna in association with IIChE Patna Regional Centre was inaugurated on 12th November 2022.
Padmashree Dr. G. D. Yadav, Emeritus Professor of Eminence, Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai was the Chief Guest of the function while Executive Director and State Head, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), Vibhash Kumar, was the Guest of Honour. Prof. T. N. Singh, Director, IIT Patna is the Chief Patron of the conference and D. M. Butala, President of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE) is the Patron for the event.Chairman and Convener Dr. S. K. Samanta welcomed the dignitaries and Dr. Sushant Kumar, Head of the Department, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, welcomed the delegates and participants.
Prof. G. D. Yadav mentioned about the need and ways to achieve India’s target on net-zero emission as signed by the GoI in COP. Shri. Vibhash Kumar explained the achievements of IOCL, the developments in refinery technology, and societal contributions of IOCL through which it contributes to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SGD) agreed by world nations. Prof. T. N. Singh mentioned about the importance of incorporating sustainable engineering in development planning.Shri. Butala talked about the importance of Chemical Engineering in manufacturing and production industries and the role of IIChE in catalyzing research and development in the nation. Prof. M. K. Jha, Ex-President, IIChE also graced the inaugural function with his presence. Dr. Nitin D. Chaturvedi, Co-convener of the conference extended the vote of thanks for the inaugural session.
The event is attended by around 180 delegates from academia and industry. Around 70 research presentations on various aspects of Environmental Protection and Green Energy will be presented in the 2-day conference. Researchers from more than 30 Indian institutes such as IISc Bangalore, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati, IIT Bombay, IIT ISM Dhanbad, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIT Hyderabad, IIT BHU, IIT Ropar, NIH, ICMR, NEERI, BIT Sindri, BITS-Pilani Hyderabad, and NIT Durgapur are contributing to this conference.
International participants from Harvard University, UMBC, USA, and University of Glasgow are attending the event online. 15 industries including IOCL, HPCL, GAIL, BSPCB, AIC-Bihar Vidyapith, PNM Enviro-Safe Solutions Pvt Ltd, AIB Life science, and Eurasian Associates are participating in the event.
