Patna: September 04, 2021 :: The Punjab Government established Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda (Punjab) will provide a golden opportunity to students of far flung areas of Bihar with a world class quality technical education along with attractive scholarship schemes and Welfare Schemes of the Center and state government in thepremierinstitute of Punjab Government.
This was stated by MRSPTU, Vice Chancellor, renowned academician and researcher Prof. Buta Singh Sidhu at a press conference held at Budha Heritage on Saturday.
VC Sahib along with senior faculty and officials was in Patna to launch MRSPTU Bihar State Alumni Chapter, where alumnus of the University enthusiastically participted in Bihar State Alumni “Nostalgia-2021”. Later Vice Chancellor led delegation also paid obeisance at Takhat Patna Sahib and held meeting with Jathedar Giani Ranjit Singh Gahaur Maskin ji.
Prof. Sidhu said technical education plays a vital role in human resource development of the country by creating skilled manpower, enhancing industrial productivity and improving the quality of life of its people.
“At times of impending 4th industrial revolution with consequent disruptions in both technologies and technical education, we are committed to provide up – to – date technical education and training to enlighten and train young minds to uncover their talent to harness new emerging avenues and opportunities,” he said.
The VC said University provides environment friendly cutting edge Technology and promoting the use of science and technology for bolstering our development and national growth.
The VC further said university will help the students of Bihar in realising dreams in Higher education and studying abroad through various pathway programmes initiated by the premier University. All Central and state government scholarship and welfare schemes are available in the government university, he said. Giving details about collaborative pathway education program between MRSPTU and Wayne State University (WSU), the VC said a student after studying in the MRSPTU for three years will complete the fourth and fifth-year of study at WSU under 3 plus 2 and 3 plus 1 programme.
After completion of a 4 year course, the MRSPTU student will get B.Tech degree from WSU as well as from MRSPTU, Bathinda. Besides, under a 5 year programme, both B.Tech. and Master’s degrees will be awarded by WSU.
It may be mentioned here that WSU is situated in Detroit city of USA, which is best known as the center of the U.S. automobile industry, and the “Big Three” auto manufacturers General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis North America are all headquartered in Metro Detroit. After studying at WSU, students will avil ample opportunities of employment in USA.

Giving details about placement programmes of the University, MRSPTU, Prof. Dr. Rajesh Gupta said the university have established a Corporate Resource Center (CRC) to enhance the industry-academia linkages. He added that the University have organised 7 Mega job fairs in collaboration with Punjab Government in which hundreds of companies participated and selected thousands of students on attractive packages. The University keeps organizing on campus and joint campus placement drives for the students and it’s affiliated colleges. University’s Constituent Colleges : Three decade old Punjab government established premier Giani Zail Singh Campus College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCCET) is part of the university Campus.
The University also has its constituent college Punjab State Aeronautical Engineering College, Patiala which offers courses in Aviation Sector; like B.Tech (Aerospace Engineering) B.Tech (Aeronautical Engineering), BBA (Aviation Management) & Bachelor in Management Studies (in Airlines Tourism and Hospitality). Both management courses have been specifically designed to serve the aviation industry with domestic and international airlines at airports.
All these courses have vide scope in Private Sector as well as in Government Sector; like Airports, Airlines, Corporate Research Sector, Helicopter Companies, Boeing and Airbus, Ground Staff for handling of passengers and aircrafts, Ticketing Management, Tourism Department, Travel Agents, Flying Clubs, Executive Research Consultant.
For both Engineering courses the flying hours are part of curriculum for inflight data recording and then experimentation and this facilities is only available at PSAEC Patiala other than IIT Kanpur as at PSAEC Patiala, the facility of Civil Aerodrome and Air Strip is available. Three premier Punjab Institute of Technology (PIT’s) at Moga, Rajpura and Nandgarh (Bathinda) are also constituents colleges of the university. 2 per cent Best Scientists of the World : Many faculty Membersof Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda are renowned scientist, who have been listed in the World ranking of top 2 per cent Best Scientists in an independent study conducted by Stanford University (USA). One of the most prestigious Universities in the World, Stanford University (USA) has recently released a list of Top 2% Best Scientists in the year 2019.
Dr. Kawaljit Singh Sandhu, head Department of Food Science and Technology and Dr. Ashish Baldi from Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology, (MRSPTU), Bathinda made the university proud by getting featured among Top 2% Best scientists across the globe in “Food Science” and “Pharmacy” domains respectively.
Guru Nanak Chair : To mark the 550th birth anniversary of Sikhism’s founder Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Punjab Government has set up a Guru Nanak Dev Chair at MRSPTU. The Chair will conduct research on the life, philosophy and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji in particular related to Environmental Science based on “Pavan-Guru Paani-Pita Maata-DharatMahat” studying the elements of water, air and soil in the present context of ecological crisis facing mankind will remain in focus.
Green Campus : Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education (MGNCRE) under the Ministry of Human Resource Development,Government of India selected Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU), Bathinda with Swachhta Award under “Green Champion” Award for clean green environment of the campus. The selection was based on various parameters including best sanitation and hygiene, rain harvesting and water conservation,solar power, energy conservation, waste management and sprawling clean green campus.
