Patna, November 26: Devotthan Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month is celebrated every year due to the devotion or awakening of God. Devotthan Ekadashi is very important in Hinduism. This year Devotthan Ekadashi is on 25 November. Devotthan Ekadashi is also called ‘Prabodhini Ekadashi’ and Tulsi marriage is also celebrated on this day. According to the Hindu calendar, Ekadashi is from 2.42 pm on November 25 to 5.10 pm on November 26. It is said that Ashadha devas sleep on Shukla Paksha Ekadashi and Kartik rises on Ekadashi (Shukla Paksha Ekadashi). That is why it is called Devotthan Ekadashi. It is also said that during the Devasan period (which lasts for four months) there is a prohibition of conducting Vivahadi Manglik functions and all the auspicious and Manglik works are started after Dev rises (on Devathan Ekadashi). Tulsi marriage is also celebrated on the day of Devathan Ekadashi. On this day, Tulsi Mata is worshiped by offering molly thread, flowers, sandalwood, vermilion, items of suhag, Akshat, confection and worship material etc. On Devauthani Ekadashi, Lord Vishnu is worshiped under a canopy made of sugarcane. In the puja, fruits like radish, sweet potato, water chestnut, amla, plum etc. are offered. During Devathan Ekadashi one should not break the leaves of any plants. They should avoid cutting hairs and nails. They should try to live a moderate and simple life.According to Hindu Scriptures, one who do a fast on this day should not eat Rice , or any food given by others. cabbage Spinach, turnip, etc. should also not be consumed.
