Mumbai Police entered the house of  Arnab Goswami, Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV and  arrested him for targeting him in  an old case. According to  sources, In an old case of suicide, Arnab Goswami has been arrested by the Maharashtra CID in 2018 in connection with the investigation into the suicide of interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik. Sources said that Arnab Goswami has alleged that the Mumbai Police had a scuffle with him. In this regard, Republic TV channel has shared some screenshots, in which the police is seen entering Goswami’s house and there is a clash. Arnab Goswami has also alleged that his father-in-law, mother-in-law, son and wife have been assaulted by the Mumbai Police. Sources said Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar condemned the arrest of Arnab Goswami. Prakash Javadekar has tweeted that, ‘We condemn the attack on freedom of press in Maharashtra. This is not the way the press behaves. It reminds us of those days of emergency when the press was treated in this way. He also said that the attack on press-journalism in Mumbai is condemnable. It is an action of the Maharashtra government, just like Emergency. We condemn it. ‘ Sources also said that this is actually the case in 2018, when a 53-year-old interior designer Anvay Naik and his mother Kumud Naik committed suicide in May 2018 in Alibaug. A suicide note was found after the incident, which was allegedly written by Anvay. In this suicide note, he said that Arnab Goswami and two others did not pay him Rs 5.40 crore, due to which he faced financial crisis.
